idea: intake cams on the exhaust

so i have an extra set of cams just laying around and i'd like to put the intake cams on the exhaust side of my n/a motor

stock intake are 251's and exhaust are 243's... 8 more degrees should play well with my headers and intake while remaining tame overall as this is my dd

the easiest way i can think to do this is to put the intake cams on exhaust cam gears and just align them to a different tooth

couple things i need to find out:
Anyone know exactly how both the intake cams and exhaust cams line up on the gears so? need to figure what tooth i could potentially line the cam up with.

Also, how do guys with adjustable can gears deal with the position sensor?
-could this be swapped over to the intake cam(since its in stock position)? or could i flash my ecu to adjust the expected timing?

There is no difference in gears. They are all keyed the same.

yes the gears are the same but i could use information on where the lobe centerlines are relative to the timing dot on the gear

If you would like info on the NA engine, and how to create more power look up GTWizzard on the other site. He has spent more time/energy/money on improving anNa than 90% of the tt guys combined.

Help them, for they know not that which they do not know!

The only way the ECU would play with that set up, is by re-clocking the signal wheel on the gear... The cylinder ID pulse has to be properly lined up, or it will lose it's mind.

Each tooth on the cam gear is 15 crank degrees, or 7.5 cam degrees. just find the multiple of 7.5 that puts you in the ballpark of the lobe center you want to run, and that's the number of teeth you need to move. (probably 14 teeth at 105 degrees, the next up would be 15 teeth at 112.5 degrees.) You could also source some 6G74 gears, I believe they're timed 1/2 tooth off from ours, that could give you choices down to the closest 3 degrees. (I'd verify that fact though, I never have)

Sounds like more trouble than it's worth to me, but let us know if it works out....
