    11 years and counting

I haven't really posted much on my car here in the past couple years---or frankly posted a lot at all (Paul passed my post count a while ago). I think I should explain what's been going on, the status on the car, and what the future holds.

My car has sat in a storage unit in Georgia for 2 years now...minus a few months that I was back in the states driving it. For those who aren't familiar, it's an AWD ATX TT. First ATX AWD that Evan (Shooter83) converted. It's still running with a 100% stock 1992 VR4 engine out of Chris's (Ninja Performance) car. I have about 98% of the parts needed (including supporting mods) to do a 3.5L 16G build. Injectors, FMIC piping, Intake, MAF/-T, MBC, stage 2 heads, shortblock, 2x supra pumps & hanger, etc, etc, etc.

Unfortunately, the ATX decided it was done living...right about the time I was returned overseas from the states. Needless to say, a working transmission is a crucial piece of completing any build--and in fact, required to do pretty much all of the rest of the stuff. The worst part about it is, I simply cannot find a shop/company who will rebuild it using my parts & my specs. I'm not asking for the world here, I just want beefed up clutch packs, a translab shift kit, an OEM stall converter, and a beefed up (NOT WELDED) center differential. Of course, a beefed up front differential would be nice, but I'll take what I can get. I haven't found ANYWHERE.

So at this point, I'd like to take a minute and plead with the forum here for any advice/options on where I can get a transmission. Thank you in advance.

Because of the transmission, my car still sits. If it were working, I'd have probably shipped the car off to have it finished already. I'd started buying parts for this build back in 2011 and 3 years later, the car is EXACTLY the same, minus a couple minor changes like coilovers, painting the bay in satin black and installing 2g tt brakes front & rear. It's been soul crushing.

I have about 14-16 months till I'll be back in the USA, and more than I care about a tax-refund, my future firstborn (never gonna happen) or anything...I really just want my car buttoned up and done. 100% done. Never gonna mess with modding her ever again done. I've had enough. If that means 3.5L 16g's and 16psi of boost max...so be it. If I can't figure out how to pull off a miracle by the time I return home, I'll have run out of time and patience. Sadly, this means that I'll end up selling it--likely at a MASSIVE loss. I won't be able to emotionally or financially bear the cost of keeping the car around any longer. Even without the mods installed & still BNIB, I'd probably be lucky to get 1/3rd of the total cost of everything after it's all said and done....but I'm rambling.

I won't even bring up the litany of cosmetic mods that I'd had planned. I don't even care anymore...I just want it working again. I can bondo & paint it later if I still feel like it. And if it's not completed, cosmetic mods would be a huge waste of money anyhow.

I really want to send this to Ninja and have him finish it--but he needs a transmission first. Chris is the perfect guy for this, imho. Chris's handiwork did the TT-swap back in the day & that was the beginning of when the modding really started.

So this is me reaching out to 3sgto and asking for help. Can you point me in the right direction? Thank you for listening.

    -T

Really wish I could help, Carlos.

I think it's a conspiracy, one intended to deprive a wicked intellect of the wee bit of satiation to be derived from a stubborn allegiance to the automatic transmission.

    So sad...

Family man is running an ATX with big power plans. Maybe you need to revise your transmission goals? IDK

Thanks guys, but if I threw in the towel on the transmission, I'd end up just buying a z15 and starting fresh--and that's assuming I had enough ambition to stick with the platform (which I wouldn't). The whole point of all the pain was to have a z15 ATX, and a compromise at this point is almost as bad as not completing it at all.

FamilyMAN said he was pretty happy with his but I'm not sure what all he did on the modifications to it to beef it up for his power. Most f the trans is the same as the DSM awd atx iirc. So should be plenty of shops that do DSM work that would build it like you want.

I have talked to IPT and Level 10, but both wanted to weld the differential. I want my car to still have passenger-car road manners.
