My VR4 vs. Single Turbo Foxbody

So I ran a single turbo'd Mustang Cobra...my brothers actually...

Its a 93 GT with a stock motor but EVERYTHING else...its literally got the whole catalog on the car. Its super nice and quite frankly the CLEANEST car I've ever seen being as old as it is. Its got a t76 single turbo setup running 16-17lbs of boost on e85.. He dynoed 460whp @12lbs of boost. Now he's running a little more boost so conservatively I'd say its about 500whp.

My car is running ~17lbs of boost with a 19 spike. IPS TD05 16g's, Chrome, forged bottom, ported heads/cams, FMIC e85 self tuned. I Virtual Dynoed my car and its also making in the ballpark of ~500whp. The only drawback to my setup at this time is that I'm running 'modified' stock intake pipes w/evo MAS feeding the turbos. Its temporary and as soon as a real solution is available w/chrome I'll throw those pipes away like the plague. I've got SD pipes waiting to be installed but no software solution is available yet to support them.. Otherwise Im happy with the car...id like to experiment with an upgraded IM next year if the car runs well. I'm also hoping to pick up a few ponies when I dump my temporary intake solution..EVO's regularly pick up ~40whp from an SD Conversion..

All runs done from 3rd gear...my 2-3 shift trans grinds...

oh yea here is a picture of my timing map...any comments/criticism will be appreciated. ..

Mustang block is on borrowed time if it truly is 500whp.

Good runs. I need a ride!

Yeah he's at the limit of the shortblock...He's got bigger issues though..catching traction..Tires are in the works for this season

We definitely have to meet up sometime this season!

Justin, Lag is over rated. I have no regrets going td05. Even with my restrictive intake setup the car is hauling by the time needle sweeps 3500 rpms..full boost by 4200..oh yeah and no surging issues to speak of

Yes 5 speed. Its hard to see in the video but I Only pulled ahead by a car and kept it. He had to shift tight away which allowed me to jump up...the cars are well matched for each other.

Subbed for more vids later as your car is running really well and his not so much. I hope he has his eyes on a better engine soon. Familyman is correct, he's on borrowed time at 17psi as he should be well north of 500WHP.

Looks like you got a late start on the 1st one but got him the 2nd-3rd time. I bet he about shit when he kicked out on the 2nd run. You would really kick his but from a dig.

You don't have to tell me that I've been contemplating going with a big single for the longest time, I just never went through with it.

Glad you're enjoying those TD05's, I know I would be.
