Something else got accomplished over the weekend and that was all the PnP mods for chrome. Wired in the Active Exhaust switch with bulb and completed the missing wire from the dash harness to the ECU. Ill do a better write up later but here's the general idea (91-95 cars do NOT need to do this if you have a Jesters ECU)

Start off by removing the driver side kick panel and here you will find 2 white connectors. The lower 18 pin one is the one we need.

I have to confirm the 96/97 cars are like this but for sure the 98/99s are missing one wire. There's 4 wires on the dash harness side (male connector) but only 4 on the engine harness side (female connector).

Note, in that above pic I have removed the harness plug pin stay clips which look like this:

The green one is from the ECU connector. The pink is from the dash harness. They come off easily with just a small flat head screw driver.

The ECU plug for the true 98/99 ECUs is pin 73 (I think, gotta double check). This is the plug. It's the "top one" with the ECU installed. Note in the upper left corner is the red wire with 2 blank spaces below it. The second from the top is the pin for the AE input.

Thanks to Jeff and my spare SL harness I had the pins I needed to make a wire that just plugged into the connectors.

Note: the female pin for the dash harness connector is the same pin as the amp harness plug!

Here is a bad picture of the wire installed and the stay clip reinstalled. I'm holding the plug upside down... It's the yellow wire that's the AE pin installed. Which you can't even see... Haha ill get a better pic later.

    Here's the whole setup.

Ill to back and get better pics later for the "official" write up. I was in a hurry when I did these.

Those of you who are twitching for switchable maps might want to make sure this setup works in your car. You can log the AE switch in chrome with EVOScan. The bit should change to 1 when the Tour light on the dash is on.

What about us 94-96 with Brett's ecu?

I have no idea if Brett populated this input with his harness. I had made him aware of it just before Adam started selling his PnP ECUs knowing that I would use this input for switchable maps one day but never got any confirmation if he updated his harnesses to use it. He did tell me the original ones did not.

The only way to be sure is to use EVOScan and see if that bit switches during a log.

Because 99 (aka what's Greg been doing since he's not been working on code)

It's pin 75 right? When you say 91-95 is fine I think you mean the stock harness supported active exhaust. I know the switch to bulb wiring is there on a 95 because I'm using it. Not sure the switch to ECU wiring is there on all 95 cars. I don't think it is on the Spyder.

Brett's clone itself will work as long as pin 75 gets added to the adapter harness. If the car originally supported AE then the wire would terminate on both ends of the adapter harness. If not then it might have to be tapped into the switch.

One question. What things will be switched? Fuel map, timing map, ECU boost, anything else?

Need to correct you. The dash harness is the same 91-99. The AE wiring is there. The break is the connector I posted above. It's the connector for the engine wire harness and the dash harness. This is why we were able to swap in the bulb and switch.

Both Brett's and Adams ECUs themselves support AE as the input is there on the circuit board itself. It's even there in the 4 cyl cars.

...but I don't believe Brett put a wire in his adaptor harnesses for the AE input in the 95-97 cars. He told me he didn't sell too many of them though. Just something you have to double check.

Yes pin 75. Thank you for the correction.

I have gotten everything you posted above coded for the switchable stuff. Something I need to add is separate startup tables as its clear E85 cars need their own separate maps to start the motor as smoothly as stock.

Yes pin 73. Thank you for the correction.

Thanks. I didn't know the ECU sees the switch on all years. I did add the bulb and switch already. Note the bulb *may* require removal of some of the soldermask coating to get an electrical connection.

As for the harness, there is a combination of Brett, Blackstealth, and DIY harnesses out there. Hard to say what they have. I can check with Evoscan if I happen to have the wire in my harness (I have a Blackstealth harness).

It's pin 75 by the way according to the ECM terminal descriptions on Stealth316. 73 is for one of the secondary O2 sensors

Really looking forward to this capability with one caveat. I already have my Exhaust Cutout wired up and working with that switch. So I might have to come up with an RPM sensitive control so that it opens up when I romp on it whether or not the switch is set.

Headlights came in yesterday. New bulbs didn't fix the issue. Turns out the damn pins were backwards. Reversed the plug and it works perfectly.

Also ran out to Darrick's yesterday and got another FPR solenoid. This is it in the mount I made for it. It'll go on the side of the intake plenum where the 99 purge solenoid went.

Did some further checking. Stealth316 had the following pin assignments for Muffler mode input:

    1992-1993: Pin 103
    1994, 1995: Pin 34
    1996, 1997: Pin 61
    1998, 1999: Pin 75

Yeah I couldn't remember the exact pin off the top of my head. I've got the pin out sheet sitting on my passenger seat. It's the 3rd pin down on the left hand column of the top plug. That I do remember.
