Congratulations on staying in it Jeff.
Is the surge still an issue with the new v2 vs the v1?

So are these custom turbos then? Not the off the shelf V2?

Made 608whp/631wtrq on Pampena's dyno @ 31 psi.
Cruising surge was fixed before with the V1's with my fix. It'll still surge if I turn the system off with these. There is a bit more lag in the new setup vs the old but it's not bad at all.
I haven't tested enough in power to see the lower threshold of surge but, I know it'll still do it down low. The threshold before was around 4000RPM in 3rd gear.
They have a 12* clip on the turbine. The exhaust housings are ported from DR. Not off the shelfers.
Jeff
Did you stick with the 9.1 compression or go back down to 8.1..?
I just saw a video of DK77's spool (granted it was at 6000 ft) and it looked quite a bit laggier than the video of Eric's V1 spool. I personally had some weird issue and mine spooled up super slow so I can't use my personal experience as an example.
Don't put too much stock into my video lol. Most people don't realize how much elevation kills power/spool. At sea level my spool was comparable to the other DR750 cars maybe slightly slower. I've lost over 100 actual horsepower to the wheels up here. Jeff's before/after will be interesting but not necessarily useful for others as his turbos have an extra clip to them.
700whp on TD04s is going to be insane. Just remember, 15Gs are the biggest turbo you can run on a 3S![]()
Honestly and just to be clear, the V1's I had were capable of doing it because every VD street pull always netted less WHP per pound of boost than the real dyno. With the STD CF (seems to be the CF of choice) instead of the DIN CF that the dyno shop used it made 692WHP at only 26psi. It also wasn't running right as it was overfueled causing issues. I also believe the driver went WOT too early causing some surging which may be attributed to the wavy dyno result. Like I said before the threshold for surgeless power pulls was near 4000RPM. The pull was started at 3300RPM. I was outside behind the car and had no way of knowing what it was doing and they wouldn't let me stand inside the shop or ride in the car while it was on the rollers.
It Virtual Dynoed 700 maxing the map sensor out (BC showed an peak of 30psi). 28psi seemed to be the ceiling before as on that VD pull power nose dived up top in big boost and high RPM.
Putting these parts on it this time are just the result of an engine rebuild/upgrade after a crankshaft failure. I am extremely confident Ray will be the first to dyno 700 on TD04's but this one will make more, eventually.
Jeff
Well I remember that you're running a little higher compression which I believe helped get you a little closer to that magical goal. I believe you mentioned in your other thread that after 28psi, it seems the turbos were falling off while Ray has gone up to 32psi. I'm very curious as I've mimicked my build as close as possible to Ray's. I have a couple small items such as DNP o2 deletes that have me hoping to hit close to if not a bit over what Ray was able to accomplish. Granted I know that Ray knows what the hell he's doing but I figure IF I can't, I'll just fly him out here to make it happen. Lol.
Also what oil pump gear did you end up going with? A billet or stock? I haven't been able to source a billet as the ones by Wayne I believe had some small issues.
Stock oil pump. I don't rev much past 7200.
