Definitely sounds like inadequate voltage to the starter or a weak bendix. That's how mine sounded after the rebuild, but swapped with a known good one and it was back to full speed. You sure the new starter you put on is good? If so, I agree with checking starter wires (and the connector) for corrosion or breaks.

As far as the sound in the 2nd video, doesn't sound great, although I don't know what it is that could make it just by turning it over by hand..

Starter came off a good car, just borrowing it. I will check the wires for corrosion. Heck, might be burnt up with all the cranking I've been doing. Got to wondering if the noise is the starter gear. It's real hard to tell where it's coming from, nothing else I'll pull the starter and try it again and see.

The starter shouldn't physically touch any moving part without being engaged. I'm pretty sure that won't cause the noise.

Ohm'd out the positive, negative and whatever harness that plugs up to the starter at both ends. I am only getting around .03 at the most on all three, so I'm thinking they're good. Going to get a rigid scope tomorrow and see if I can look into the cylinders and check pistons and walls. If those are good I guess I'll pull the valve covers.

you could have a seized t belt pulley. That would explain the starter speed, and noise you hear.

Help them, for they know not that which they do not know!

That's something I can definitely do, though it will piss me off considering all of the were replaced 13K miles ago. Better them than an engine I guess, but at this rate I'm going to have this thing half pulled looking for stuff. lol

You can't check a circuit for a problem without applying a load to it. Ohms testing a starter cable is useless. Google voltage drop testing and try again.

The starter wire is a decent gauge but the solenoid wire, that's another story, also the stock charging wire between the fuse box and the battery is wayyy too small. Inline 120 amp fuse going from a 4ga down to maybe a 10ga at best, more like 12ga.

The starter wire is about a 4ga going strait from the batt to the starter, and the solenoid either engages or it doesn't. Unless you have some seriously corroded connections I doubt the starter wire main feed is bad. Make sure the ground to the engine is good because if that's weak then your losing current there.

Ohm'd is the wrong term. I checked resistance from one end to the next. I can probably try this other guys cable set up while his car is still on jacks.

Most automotive wiring fails by corroding from the inside out. This is why load testing is essential. Even wiring with gorgeous end connections and zero resistance can be corroded internally to the point where it is useless.

It is hard to tell the speed of the starter from the video. BUT at 4ga, the starter wire is marginal IMHO. If I were having this problem and thought it was starter cranking speed, I would buy a new 4ga universal starter wire, battery and reman starter from the local big box parts store and put all three in. If you are paranoid about the solenoid, put a 30 amp relay in, using the oem solenoid wire to trigger the relay and run power from the main starter terminal through the relay to the solenoid. Did you ever check the compression after squirting oil in the plug holes? Even with electrical problems, that would tell you if there is a ring seal problem.

The sound in the second video MIGHT be a starter bendix that didn't fully disengage allowing the gear to lightly touching the flywheel. You can check that pretty easily.

I agree that all six going down at once has to be a common cause.....and all of those have been mentioned already.
