Thread: All 6 cylinders down???

    All 6 cylinders down???

Okay, shot a crap load of ether in the TB to see if she would start and the car did not even try, so it's not a fuel issue. I pulled the dipstick out and it looked like the oil was separated and smelled like gas. It was either that or it was because there was an odor of gas around the car. I went and got a compression gauge from autozone and started checking compression. I am really hoping I'm doing something wrong here as the highest value I got was off cylinder #3 and that was 90 psi. Everything else was 60 psi. I can't see all 6 cylinders being down all at once.

The only deviation I did from what the manual says is I disconnected the connector from the fuel pump and coil instead of the crank sensor. I didn't hold the throttle open as I don't see the purpose since the plenum isn't even on the engine. That and I am obviously not able to have the coolant be 176-203 since the motor won't even crank. The battery is getting weak from all the cranking, so that more than likely didn't help.

If you washed the cylinders down with fuel, the rings won't seal... Put some oil in the cylinders and see if they come back. Otherwise the first suspect would be cam timing.

That's one of the reasons why I called it a night. I'm thinking there's too much fuel in the cylinders. The CAMS and crank timing are dead on, rotated the crank like a half dozen times checking to make sure. I have jackhammers adjusted CAM gears, so they're +1 and -3, that shouldn't cause it to read too low right? I compression checked the engine 4 years ago after installing it (with those gears) and the readings were good. Can't remember what they were, but if they were below 115 I would remember. I'm going to get my battery charged back up and try her again tomorrow

Don't know if it was mentioned earlier (late night reading comprehension) but I would drain out the oil if it truely smells like gas.

I would double check the compression tester too incase its bad.

Sounds like you have an ignition issue, either crank or cam sensor.

If your timing belt jumped at the crank, this would also cause your compression to be way off. More than likely the issue is simply "dry" cylinders. Disconnect the CAS and crank the engine for 10-15 seconds with just the starter. This will build some oil pressure.

You should just buy my stroker anyway.

I know, I know! LOL Did Ray get back with you on how much shipping is going to be? Need to find total price with shipping, gaskets, etc. I checked the timing and no teeth were jumped. Getting the battery charged right now, once I am done with the compression ck I'm going to change the oil if it checks good. No since doing it if it's gonna ck bad. That money would be better spent towards a stroker.

No he didn't but all that means is he was busy.

    My guess would be $300-$350.

Freshly charged battery and this is what I get. Am I wrong in thinking the starter is about dead? Got 60 psi on #1 and 30 on #3 (last night it was 90).
