Transmission shifter shaft reinstall problem...bottom fork doesn't want to line up

When I insert the shift shaft it only wants to go in so far. I see in the manual that the shift forks all need to line up. They weren't all lined up but I can move the top 2 into place....but the bottom shift fork doesn't want to slide into place with the top 2. I am prying on it somewhat but am afraid I might break something. If anyone could help me out on how to get the bottom shift fork to move since I can't get it to slide. Thanks for the help.

Just removed the poppet cover and the check balls were holding it in place.

I am new to the forum and need help with removing the shift shaft from my 1995 3000GT VR4 w/6spd manual tranny. It will only slide out about an inch or so then hits something solid. If I wiggle it around it will come out another little bit then binds up and will come no more. Tranny's in neutral and by all accounts it should slide right out. Anyone have this problem?
