yeah you said you got the shaft used and it vibrated since you got it. The old car could've had bad mounts, damaged the ujoint, and the vibration after toy installed it cracked the yoke.

They were talking about the u-joint issue the other day (PST vs APCT CF) in the group buy thread over there. They do have a beefier joint they use now, at least on the carbon fiber shafts.

If PST won't repair it do you think welding it is a bad idea? It won't fix the design and could potentially mess up the balance more but if you have no other options besides buying a new shaft it would be worth a shot. Otherwise, I don't know who would be able to weld a beefier u-joint on and balance it.

I had a PST cf 2 piece yoke let go on me launching at the track, the shaft dropped onto the shaft safety loof and snapped a foot off the end. They are built with 1310 yokes which are rated to 800 ftlbs instantaneous torque load but 400 continuous.

After talking to them about the options we decided to stick with the 13 series but skip the 1330 and go for a 1 piece with 1350 yokes which still fit inside a 3.25" tube and are rated to 2000 ftlbs instantaneous and 1000 ftlbs continuous.

There's a little gem for you

Ahh, then maybe a good guess still Hell, there is even a chance it was cracked when I got it and I just kept making it worse...

So gave them a ring they said to send it in so they can look at it. Which I guess, I am not surprised. I don't know if I have 1310 series joints. Either way I'll opt for the upgraded 1350 series joints if they are already going to be doing repair work. No further details.

They got the shaft and gave it a look over. Looks like the shaft is 5-6 years old and has an old joint. $175 plus shipping to get it changed over. There goes my savings in buying a used shaft. Still came out a little ahead but not sure if it was worth the hassle.

It's a shame they wouldn't just replace it for you without charge but I guess that isn't too bad. Seems like they should treat it as a recall though.

I think the problem is launching at 4,300,000 RPM What kind of valve springs do you have?
