Cracked driveshaft UJoint

Picked up a used PST half aluminum shaft last summer. It had a small balance issue at 70mph so I decided to pull it this spring to see if the balance was off. This is what I found Got a great price but of course, no warranty or anything. We'll see how much PST charges for this repair. Guess I can be glad I didn't find this the hard way at the track. I probably have 15-20 4300krpm 1.8-2.0 60ft launches on it.

Anyone seen anything similar?

If I had to guess I'd say maybe the motor mounts on that car were bad

Bad guess then poly mounts, this motor doesn't move. New carrier bushings with install and the rear end bushings have also been replaced. Only thing not replaced are front/rear subframe bushings.

yeah you said you got the shaft used and it vibrated since you got it. The old car could've had bad mounts, damaged the ujoint, and the vibration after toy installed it cracked the yoke.

Ahh, then maybe a good guess still Hell, there is even a chance it was cracked when I got it and I just kept making it worse...

This is worrying. I have on of those drive shafts on the shelf waiting to be mounted on the car.

I have one of these also, so does ginger Dave, I know he has abused it more than we have. Might be just bad metal. I'd say it was cracked when you got it and it just got worse. I don't think I've heard of one of these failing before.

I wonder if they've switched to a different joint. I'm not a fan of how there is a 90 degree corner right there and apparently it creates a point that is prone to crack.
