Truth is: these are pre-production vehicles. They don't have a proper VIN and therefore can NOT be sold to the public (or any other entity for that matter). Their production numbers aren't even true production numbers since they are PRE-production.

Whether or not kids wrecked them is irrelevant, the schools KNEW when they received these cars that they would eventually be crushed.

If you want to blame someone, blame the gov't for all the strict rules they put on the manufacturers. It was probably a loophole being utilized to even allow the schools to use them in the first place.

Kinda insane for them to crush 91 of them, even more insane to send 91 out to schools when they were in the crapper financially... Must have done this as a write-off to circumvent the problems they would have with the Dodge Stealth and Mitsubishi.

They were sent out a long time before they were in trouble. But yeah, it is crazy to think about.

Last year we "donated" a brand new SRT 300 to SIUC, so the program still exists.

The technology in the older Vipers isn't crazy at all, just excessive in every way, which is what made it the car it was.

Story time!

Honda donated a test car to a school, I forgot which school or which model. Probably an Accord honestly, but it wouldn't make a difference even if it was the very NSX Senna tested at Spa. After it was used up by the school a couple of the teachers made a deal with Honda that allowed them to build a race car out of it and run a season or two with it with the class helping.

Then it was crushed. That's the life of these cars. Get over it, lol. Guess what happened to the first 3 Mclaren F1's.
