I would, but it appears we're stuck with this model for a while. The contract is 12 years. Not that contracts can't be modified or bought out, but I don't think the committee has any intention of expanding the field anytime real soon. What we have is infinitely better than what we had, though. In the old system OSU wouldn't have even gotten a chance(provided the final regular season rankings were the same). They certainly proved they are the best team with the gauntlet they ran at the end.

It doesn't matter who played them on Monday, the result would have been the same(TCU included). OSU proved they are far and away the best team in the Country this year.

it still mattered OSU just over came them. fact of the matter is most teams in most games don't flat out dominate the way OSU did. had they not turned over the ball like they did it would have looked like UO v FSU if not worse. in a competitive game a single turnover can make the difference in the game.

there's a reason coaches are hired and fired on their ability to get their defenses to create turnovers. fact is they matter big time and I'd be shocked if you could find 1 coach that said they didn't.

Of course they matter. But if every time you get a turnover and just go 3 and out, and the opposing team takes it right back down the field, what does it matter? All you've accomplished is burning clock time you need. UO blew out FSU because they capitalized on almost every turn over and turned it into 7 points on the board. I think Oregon only scored on 1 turn over during the championship game, and that was the blown coverage down the middle they took to the house if I remember correctly. Other than that, they generally went nowhere for most of the game.

You're totally missing the point. IN MONDAY'S GAME, THEY DID NOT MATTER. Do they normally matter? Of course! Did a girl hijack your account?

I still maintain that a 6 or 8 team playoff would be nice. Conf champion from each of the power 5 conferences, 3 other representatives, with no more than 2 representatives total from any one conference, and maybe limit it to just 6 representatives from power 5 conferences.

Kind of best of NFL and NCAA basketball tournaments. One of those minor programs could get lucky and knock off a top seed to make a run, but otherwise like a tune up game for the #1 and #2 seeds. The weaker conferences can't bitch that they have no shot, it still leaves a door open for Notre Dame to play when they're not horribly overrated, and should include pretty much every undefeated and one loss team in a given year while the whole thing could be completed within the usual time frame (ie, first week of january it's all done.) Also lets them sprinkle big games throughout the holiday season to capitalize on the extra eyeballs off for holidays.

Downside would be of course power conferences bitching about lower teams getting in at all, and the fact that picking out the top power conference non conference champion would be a PITA probably. Still, would probably be a blast. Boise or TCU of the last decade probably could've made some serious runs the last decade with a set up like that.

I still think you're missing the point. It doesn't matter who they were playing. Your comment came off as basically belittling the win. Not all turnovers are created equally, and most of those turnovers were glorified punts except for the one that occured on their side of the field.

Again, if the opposing team isn't scoring, the turnovers may as well be punts. You're right in believing that turnovers reduce win percentage, but that's a meaningless statistic from game to game because it doesn't take into account other performance metrics (you know, like, the ACTUAL score).

I just find it hilarious that in the BCS system, neither team that was in the championship game would have been... It would have been Alabama vs. FSU. Eventually they'll expand to 6 or 8, but at least this way someone can still be butthurt at the end of the season lol
