Help with Chromed ECU and contacting chromed ECU.org

My car is a California 1994 VR4 with 139,000 miles, which I purchased new. It ran OK but had a problem idling with the AC on. So I put in a new IAC but that didn't fix it. Next I pulled the ECU and found that the IAC drivers were fried - doh should have checked the ECU first LOL.

So I purchased a Chromed ECU and Tactrix cable from chromedecu.org last year and installed the ECU.

My car ran but not properly. Then I got ill (pancreatic tumor) which fortunately I'm now recovered from. So now I'm trying get my VR4 back on the road and need to set up the ECU.

The car starts up fine and runs OK when cold. As soon as it gets to temp, it only runs on 3 cylinders at anything less than WOT. If I leave it to idle for a few min, all six come on line until I take it past 3500RPM. Then its back to 3 unless I go WOT.

After a ton of messing about, I finally got EvoScan 2.7 downloaded and running (after giving up with V2.9). Now I need to download the 3000GT ROM file. I have tried using the contact form at cromedecu.org a couple of times over the past couple of months but had zero response.

Help, any ideas?
Any better method of contacting the vendor besides through chromedecu.org?
Anybody else have a CA VR4 with similar issues?
What am I missing?

Try contacting Greg E on this forum. He should be able to help you out.

Sounds like a bad coil pack. Or loose connection on the PTU plug.

But I agree, shoot Greg E a PM on here.

Ironically the car was running strong before I upgraded to a flashable ECU so don't think its the coil packs.

What happened to Jester and his site?

Jester and the site are still good. I think the emails go to Greg... I have to double check.

I was the one who set up chromedecu.org, but I haven't touched it in a while.

Thanks - I'm a noob to the community (I was active in the 1990's when I used my VR4 for track days) so Its taking me a while to figure out who is who. I think I'm starting to get there and hopefully will start to contribute instead of just floundering around asking for help.

As per my thread in the ECU sub-forum. With help from Greg and Adam and the guys at Tactrix, I got the ECU installed and my VR4 is back on the road.

So now I have essentially a stock VR4 motor in a car set up for track days (suspension, brakes and seats) and the new ability to manage boost and lots of other things through the ECU.

This is going to be fun!

I see a built motor on the horizon
