    Cobrakiller1994 Chrome tuning

Figured I should start my own thread for any questions/issues I have with my experience. My setup us 13t turbos, PTE 550cc injectors, Honda style fpr, 3sx fuel pressure gauge, 3sx pretty turbo pipes, full ATR exhaust. 3sx hotwire. Also, have the 482 MAF with chrome v2.

To start off I changed all the things needed to run a 94 without and CEL. Then I changed my injector size to 535cc and changed the startup a few percent as stated in the chrome manual thread. Got my car running with no intake leaks anywhere a few days ago. So yesterday I went and drive around for awhile. So first problem I nothing to was my AEM wideband doesn't seem to be logging right. Have everything scaled so probably just a problem with a connection. My gauge itself was working fine. After all the driving by the time I got home both front and rear trims settled at 12.5. So this morning I was going to drive to work (20 mile straight road). I hooked my battery charger up and added some 10 percent to mid trims. Car started up fine and I backed out of the garage with everything running fine. Then I went to leave and car just died and now it won't start back up. It just spits and spudders, has fuel pressure and if I hold throttle open it will almost start. I'm just afraid the Ecu bricked as I've heard it's not hard to do. But like I said everytime I have messed with the ecu my battery charger has been on 12v 30 amp charge.

Sorry for any problems reading this my stupid phone auto corrects and all that jazz.

    Thanks for any help, Nate

You don't have a bricked ECU. So rest easy there.

You set the injector scalings but did you set the latencies?

Can you verify the MAF is working? The easy way to tell is to watch the boost gauge while the engine is running.

Yes I set the latencies, don't kno the numbers off the top of my head. Car did run fine the other day. Also started fine this morning after I flashed it. Ran for probably 2 mins this morning then just spit and shuddered then died.

I did notice the boost gauge was between 0 and 7 when cranking the car over and thought that was kinda weird.

What does "added some 10 percent to mid trims" mean?

I added 10 percent to the mid trims in the MAF smoothing table. because after driving and logging my front and rear had maxed out at 12.5

I got the car back running tonight. All I did was cleaned the front plugs off (soaked in fuel) It started right up but ran rough for about 10 seconds then cleared up. So now my problem is, I don't know if something else caused it to stop running in the first place or not. When car is idling my Wideband shows 15ish so, Im leaning more towards they just got so flooded from me turning it over and also my cranking IPW wasn't changed yet. I guess I will drive the car around tomorrow and hope for the best.

Yes, I have run in to this. Starting changes apparently not doing anything due to the plugs getting fouled. You gotta drive it around for a while, even a bit hard and then try the next day. Otherwise you are chasing a ghost. I ran into this a couple times before I figured it out when I was tuning pump gas on 1050 injectors, walbro 400 e85, and overran stock fuel pump regulator.

I drove car to work today, everything seems to be alright. Its a mystery why it fouled out. After I got off I drove for about 20 miles and Mid trims settled to 4.2 front and -3.7 in back. That seems great right? But my low trims were maxxed 12.5 front and -12.5 rear. So I let car sit and idle for awhile and even drove around town, rear trim is now at 4.3 and front one hasn't changed at all. If I watch my short term trims while logging they always stay within 3% of 0 for both front and rear. After car warmed up before leaving work my wideband was right around 14.9 at idle but then after I got home is seemed to stay around 13 at idle.

I still havnt figured out my wideband logging issue, I have it scaled right and my guage is nice and smooth but when I log its all over the place and I usually see 10.5 more then any other number. Basically it jumps around a lot, I will have to do more investigating.

As far as low trim, sounds like you need to adjust your injector latencies and size. To quote Nomiez:

Personally, I haven't touched them since I plugged them in, I've only altered the VE/Smoothing table and the injector scaling.

I'm running Delphi 1000cc with lows and mids +/-5...Stock lines, stock loop, hotwired 255. I had to only make alterations to the VE table to get idle/low trims in spec...Mids settled down on their own without me making any changes. I guess I should also add that before I made any changes to the VE table, like after I initially installed my injectors I had to scale them down all the way to 8XX (from 1000)before my o2's started cycling...My scaling now is set to 735. In your case, since you probably didn't mess around with the scaling values, thats probably the reason why you're having to make more changes to the VE table...its just a balancing act.

If low ~= mid & both > 0 then decrease injector scaling
If low ~= mid & both < 0 then increase injector scaling
If low > mid then increase latency values
If low < mid then decrease latency values

No it's not. I run into this a lot when building cars with new motors.

The reason it fouled out the first time is because you had no compression. There wasn't enough oil in the cylinder to lube the rings and fill the gap.

Now that your engine has been running, there's a good coating of oil in the cylinders so it'll start easy from now on.
