    Died while idling, won't restart

Well today is not my day. Car is a 92 vr4, Maft gen2 in blow thru, fmic, hot wired walbro, fuelab fpr, scanmaster3. That's the important stuff. I backed my car out of the driveway so I can shovel it, and I go to take it out for a spin afterwards and it's dead. I'm not sure how long it idled before it cut off but I'd guess 15-20min. It killed the battery a bit too because the car sat for a few months and I had my lights on. Went to jump it and it just cranks and cranks. It was around 7pm below freezing so I couldn't spend too much time on it before my fingers and toes went numb. But so far it has no spark, no codes, it does not build fuel pressure when cranking (after about 30sec of total cranking it had 12psi), it does build oil pressure(close to 20psi), and there weren't anyn abnormal noises when I initially started it, or when we cranked it. And the maft gen2 doesn't turn on either. It's way cold out so I just want something to look for before I head out there tomorrow. Thanks.

I'd check fuses first. Could be the ECU fuse since you have no spark or no fuel. Could be related to the relay on the side of the console which for some reason the name of which is escaping me right now.

Mfi relay. I guess after I check the fuses, I can jump the relay and see if it starts.. Is the ecu fuse under the dash?

    There we go.

ECU fuse is in the underhood fuse box. I believe it is a normal fuse. There may be a larger fuse (fusible link) that could be blown causing the no spark/no fuel issue as well.

Ok I think that's the eci fuse. I pulled it out and it looked fine, no corrosion on the terminals either. Does the mfi relay control spark too? I thought it was mainly for the fuel system.

I am not 100% confident that it does control spark, it was something that hit my brain as I read your post though.'

The MFI is actually two relays in one can. One part controls the fuel pump. The other turns on the engine sensors, including the crank/TDC sensor.
Without that you'll get no spark so indirectly yeah, the MFI controls spark.
You'll also want to check fuse 12 (Engine) under the dash.

Steve to the rescue. I thought it had at least something to do with spark. I knew it was two sensors in one. Later model 3s's actually have two separate sensors.

Good to know. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
