Oh no the switch has been a problem since I got the car which is a bout 2 years ago. Its not as if its major but just does my head in that it doesnt work properly. Cheers for the link though they will certainly come in handy

The switch is easy to change. You have to pull the covers off the column, probably pull the panel under the column to access the connector and two screws hold the switch to the side of the column. I have a spare from my parts car, but I never verified it before I pulled it. And my car is in storage at the moment. Plus you're in the UK so shipping probably wouldn't be worth it :-P

Yeah shipping cost wouldnt be ideal lol but if I become desperate then I might just have too lol. Cheers for the info though. Cant afford one at the moment but I may just take it apart too check its condition

You didn't put windshield wipers on it did you? Windscreen wipers park to the left, while windshield wipers park to the right. Putting the wrong wiper on could cause the whole system to lock up!!

    Seriously though...
The problem could be your ignition switch. When you shut the wipers off the ignition switch supplies power to pin 3 of the wiper motor connector to allow it to park. Check for power at pin 3 with the key on to make sure that's working.

hahahahaha you got me to start with there lol i was like hmmmmm lol but i havent slept yet. hmmm i had too change the ignition barrell and locks on the doors and boot as it didnt have the same keys all the way around, wonder if i forgot to plug summit back in

but that still wouldnt account for why the intermittent function doesnt work would it

No, but after looking at the diagrams again I'm thinking that a bad intermittent wiper relay could explain both problems. It looks like the relay supplies power to the park circuit when it's off, then switches it to the low speed run circuit when it's pulsed on. If that's hosed then neither the park or the intermittent would work.
The bad news is that this relay is built into the wiper switch. I don't know if you can take the switch apart again and try to fix it.
Before you do that though unplug the switch and check for continuity between the connector pins 6 and 10 with the switch "OFF".

Thanks for that info mate. How do I check for continuity between those pins?
