I agree with what you said, but as a simple answer, there is no aftermarket lower manifold to choose from, and as far as I'm concerned, the plenum I'm getting has very comparable runner length/volume to stock. I don't want to completely sacrifice bottom end if I can help it.

On a slight different note, I may be gettin my turbos redone with some billet wheels in which I have a 7, 9, and 11 blade option. I haven't decided what to go with yet, but as far as I know very generally that less blades means quicker spool. I'll have to think long and hard (giggity) on that one. If I'm backwards on that, I blame the alcohol.

If you are talking comp wheels then less blade doesn't necessarily mean quick spool. Size of the comp wheel and turbine wheel are the biggest affect on spool. A small difference in weight will be negligible on spool.

It is generally accepted that less blades are more efficient at high boost. More blades more efficient at lower boost. Unless you get a comp map for each option, it will just be guesstimating on what the PR efficiency difference looks like and spool characteristics.

Jfast what kind of TB did you buy besides the cxracing one? I really want to find one for my car. Everyone says "q45". I want something that doesn't leak, is 80mm so I don't have to use a crazy reducer off my ic piping, and something with a tps sensor I can work with. Either something that takes the mitsu tps or something else that can be wired in. It also needs to be as low profile as possible, meaning not stick 10 inches off the plenum so that I have to relocate my TB. Do people use a used oem infinity TB, or do people use the aftermarket billet ones on ebay? The ones on ebay would be perfect if they don't leak and as long as I can adapt a TPS sensor to them. They also come with a flange that could be added to my custom intake manifold.

To those wondering about aftermarket TBs and the flash ECU.

    You need the following:
*isc block or some exterior form of that (Von makes these)
*some form of a 12v switch for the ECU to know when to engage idle mode

I see no reason why you can't run an aftermarket TB with the flash ECU.

Indeed ther is none , and probably never will haha, but you can gain .120" of inside diameter by porting it that alone will handle about anything in the 900-1100 mark with a proper upper manifold/TB combo I would not go passed 80mm for street unless TB response is not an issue then 100MM is your baby

Wish I still had access to AutoCAD...

Hopefully some good plenum a will come out of all this!

What about an aftermaket evo TB and an evo TPS? I'm sure it can be done easily with an aftermarket or chromed ecu.

The Diamante TB is 66mm, but is backwards and to use it on the vr4 you will need to rotate it 180* and use an external AIC block but is a nice upgrade from the stock 60mm and cheap I paid 30 bucks for one at the local junk yard.
Great option for those wanting a Driver side TB , even the Diamante intake would work has a bigger ID than the VR4 , more of that in a new topic
