I was able to get the car started today after fixing my ECU wiring issue. I did conform that the AC compressor does come on as it should. So it looks like the Diamante unit uses separate wires for the Tamp sensor and the High/Low pressure switches as where the 3S one uses a single wire and the sensors are in tandem.

I'm working on the face plate now. Earlier you saw how I used a manaul A/C plate, gutted it and mounted the diamante plate with epoxy. well I needed to fill it all in and make it smooth. Epoxy putty works great for this! Pull off a piece, roll it up into a log and apply. Once dried I sanded and shaped it.

One coat of primer, then sand and repeat until I get a nice smooth surface. I'll then hit it with a low gloss black paint and satin clear.

I should have it all complete by the end of the week....
    That's awesome, dude!

So, what gets eliminated in this conversion? The box behind the dash as well? Is there an a/c fuse block on the passenger side kick as well? I can't remember what all is hangin around for the DCC stuff.

The black box behind the radio and the black box attached the passenger side foot panel plastic both get eliminated. the box behind the radio is actually the brain of the system. The display is just that, nothing more than a display that feeds signals to the brain. The box under the passenger plastic is the lock controller. That lock controller gets a signal from the compressor and the tach signal. If it sees the compressor is not rotating fast enough in relation to RPM's, then it shuts off the compressor to safe it from locking up and breaking the belt. My wiring shows how to hook it up but on mine I did not. I have see the compressor revolution sensors go bad on perfectly good compressors which makes them inoperable. By removing the RPM signal it allow the compressor to work again. Usually the compressor makes a god awful noise when it on it's way out so I'll probably always hear it before it locks up.

    Check it out on Youtube!!

I'll add that when my compressor failed (housing damaged from over tightening the belt) I ordered a replacement from Rock Auto which I think was the Four Seasons brand. You are supposed to be able to exchanged your manifold from the old to new however the new compressor did not support the RPM sensor as it requires an opening on the casting. I had to improvise to make it work out but came away with the conclusion that there must be manifolds that don't support the RPM signal. I'm just not sure if these manifolds are 3S versions or for other cars because it seems our compressors have multiple applications.

Note, the main issue I ran into with the diamante unit is that the display angle is horrible for the screen. When mounted in the stock 3S location you can barely see the display at a normal angle. If you slouch back in your seat some it gets better. I had a spacer to the top mounting point to angle it back a little to help with the display angle issue. I don't know it this is the same for the 98-99 Displays. I have two different Diamante units and both have the same angle issue.

Oh I very much agree. at night it isnt too bad but during the day it sucks. Must be angled back about 15 degrees or so.

    DCC conversion wiring.jpg

So is this the finalized wiring conversion chart for this project? It seems to differ in some color codes to the one darksurfr posted, or maybe I was lookin at it wrong.

What years are you guys using from the Diamante?

This wiring chart is the exact one I used and was updated as I was doing my conversion. I did notice the 3S manuals everyone uses does have some differences in the wiring colors. I verified pin count on the plugs and wire tracing.

I think they were 99-03 Diamantes. I got one off of ebay the the other from a pick and pull. I needed to get the second one to compare things and I needed the Diamante plugs and tails. You can find them on ebay but them don't come with plugs:

I'm not sure if there are differences in the wiring on the diamante ones through the years. It is best to go by in count then as those would be the same.

For those trying to do the conversion, I believe that the Diamante CC uses the same type of connector as the Mitsu ECUs. Trying to find matches to this and female connectors for the stock AC stuff to make plug and play harness.
