    Quick update if anyone cares...

Thanks to the battery dying in my VR-4, I drove the Supra to work yesterday (after pumping up the tire because it too had been sitting a while). On the way home a guy followed me. I'm thinking uh oh, it's a creeper...

Anyway, he rings the door bell and starts off with "I know this is going to sound odd, but who owns that Supra?" I told him it actually belongs to my wife. He then said, "This is going to sound strange but..." Before he could finish I told him it is for sale. At that point I pulled it out of the garage for him to look at, we went for a test drive, and he's probably going to be bringing us a deposit on it early next week. Looks like the dilemma of which car to sell was solved by a dead battery. It's not going to be the same in the garage without the Supra, but it's better in the hands of someone that is going to drive it than letting it sit in our garage.

I guess now I can start planning my final VR-4 build. I'm thinking billet DR-650s, new VSS, new timing components (why not?), and hopefully a modded '99 Montero ECU flashed with the '99 VR-4 code so I can use my EVO 560cc injectors properly that are sitting on the shelf. That's assuming, of course, that product is ever released for sale. If not, maybe an ARC 2 and some RC 550s. We'll see.

Of course... we could never hear from the guy again, and thus the dilemma will rear it's ugly head again.

he'll love it. and then he'll kick himself when he realizes the new genesis coupes will have a 5.0 v8.

personally though, i'd go for something bigger than dr-650's. maybe the 700's or 19t's (if you're not interested in the 750's).

good luck! hope to see you at NG!

This guy is all about the Supras. He could care less if the Genesis had a V10 with 700 RWHP and was $15K. He loves the look and sound of a Supra. Can't argue with personal preference. Well, can't argue and win, that is.

As for the turbos for my VR-4, I dunno. Almost $1K more for just 50 - 75 more AWHP doesn't seem like a good ROI to me. But who knows. It all depends on how much "spare" cash I have lying around when I get ready to pull the trigger. Rest assured I will go with the best TD04 solution I can find in my price range when the time comes.

I've also got other things to consider besides AWHP. I need a better sound system and some other things need to get fixed (like the paint chips in the front bumper cover). I won't be able to plug all of my "spare" funds in to performance. I also want to get SS feeds and returns and maybe some new poly mounts while I am at it. This is not going to be cheap, but this time I want to do it right and be done. I don't need to run 10s. Hell, I don't even have to run 11s (but I would like to). At this point it's time to build it fast and reliable. If a C6 Z06 walks me from a roll it's not the end of my world...

    that's why i suggested the 19t's. dunno how the 19t's stack up against the dr650's though; i don't think anyone's done a head-up comparison.

fuel system should be pretty inexpensive to do; and i'd personally upgrade to -8an if you're going to go to the trouble. the cost is negligable from -6an. if you're comfortable doing the fittings/hose ends yourself, you can get braided PTFE lines on ebay for dirt cheap--somewhere ~$3.50-$4.00 per foot. that's what i'm using for my build.
