If you were going to replace your 3/S..

What would you get? Realistically, not if you won the lottery or something.

Lately I've been itching to get a lighter, RWD car like a Miata, S2000, RX7, BRZ, etc. I feel like I am missing out in the handling/true sports car feel department. Don't think I will ever get rid of this car though because I would never get my investment out of it. Plus I worry I would get the other car and realize I was just going with the whole "grass is greener on the other side" thing and miss the power/comfort of the VR4.

Tough question as I like all of our attributes, and not being willing to sacrifice one limits the options...

...that said, once our daughter wanders off to college we will more than likely go back to another corvette
if you cant fix it with a hammer...then you have an electrical problem

A TT Stealth would be solid But that will happen when I'm done having fun with my non-turbo. That being said I also wouldn't mind owning an STi or an EVO. I've driven the STi and find them a fun car. The list could go on... But I'd really enjoy a new viper. RWD and 600+hp in a 6spd. What could be better.

STi is the more streetable between the two, and I could live with it for day to day usage..Since the 3S has been relegated to permanent project status and doesn't get use though, might as well say I'd replace it with an Evo :P

Truthfully, wouldn't mind an RX8. Enough power to suit, very comfortable (IMO), still tons of fun on mountain roads and a wealth of parts available for them. Unfortunately, an FD would be way out of my price range.

SLK 55 AMG. The r172's have 422hp, but I'd probably settle for the 360hp r171's (black series was 390hp). Faster than a same-year base corvette in the 1/4. Way more comfortable and refined ride than a vette, z4, boxter, etc. Plus, the r171's look a lot like the SLR's and the r172's look a lot like the SLS.

I'm so set on it that I will be buying one when I get back stateside...regardless of what I do with my 3/s.

Wouldn't mind a Honda NSX with targa top. Way to expensive for me right now though. But in 3-5 years or so hopefully.

I could never get past the fugly front end on the r171. The r172 is much better looking IMO. But I would seriously consider the SL class R230 AMG which had the supercharged V8 and 493 ponies.

i've never heard anyone call the r171 fugly. at least not the front end. or were you talking about the r170?

    p.s.

I like some of the SL AMG's. They're also WAY out of my price range--even used. Like 2x as much as SLK AMG's for any given year.

Actually I think I like the r170 better than the r171. Maybe it's just me but I don't like how the hood descends around the emblem. r172 is much improved. I actually saw like a 2004 SL AMG for low 20's a couple years ago but decided the maintenance risk was too high.

SL will be the next convertible I own, been telling Hans that for years now, he just rolls his eyes

Every car I want to replace the 3/S's we have, are all 2 seaters, which unfortunately aren't the most practical now. But a Viper was next in line once we sold off the extra cars, although I think it's kind of off the table for a while now... no room for a 3rd passenger

We'll never get rid of Hans' satin black (now orange) 3000GT, my Stealth, and probably his yellow stealth.
Circa 2005... Oh my, how far I've come
