Why you shouldn't buy eBay leather seats...

Why you shouldn't buy eBay leather seat kits. Here are some leather skins I got from "seats01" on ebay a few years ago. They have a houston ebay address but I'm pretty sure it's all from China. Car had 124k miles on it then, has 128k on it now. They looked good at first but they haven't held up well. I was conditioning them but gave up after they started wearing/tearing. I contacted the company and sent them pics. They emailed me back saying they would replace them. That was about a month ago. 3 Emails to them since and no reply. I sent them 2 messages via ebay, and no reply. They don't have a phonenumber/website listed anywhere, but I was able to track it down via my archieved ebay invoice. Called it and it's no longer valid. So I tracked down someone who had ordered from them recently and they sent me the phone number on their recent invoice. 3 calls and 3 Voicemails later and they never pick up or return my calls. It's also a google voice number.

So $415 lesson learned. This is just the "genuine leather" that seats01 sells. I can't speak for exotikleather or any of the other companies selling covers. If anyone has a good review for another company I'd appreciate it. I may just pony up and go with leatherseats.com though as I've had good results with them in the past.

    Pics of leather installed initially.

    And now

This is how it starts, these little tears appear. All 4 sections of my front seats have them.

This was a little tear but I pulled on it gently. It tears just like paper.

I have leatherseats.com seats in my Stealth. If I had to buy the seats today, I'd get the ones Josh is selling.

    Ditto on Josh's seat-skins.

I got full leather; only about 5K seat-time, but they're still pretty.

Those tears look nasty. Let's hope you get this sorted without having to throw 415$ down the drain.

Looks like the perforations have weakened the leather and caused it to fall apart?.

yeah the perforated areas are definitely where it is failing. Although there is some wear starting on the passenger side bolster. I think the $415 I spent is long gone. I may try Josh's stuff eventually but don't have any extra money now with Christmas coming up.
