In to hear if Tom (93Stealth) has an opinion. He obviously knows Mark very well and lived for years in the same area as the OP.

Dispite him supposedly living in El Cajon, which was only a few miles from where I used to live, I don't believe I've met this person before. Mark and Alan I do know well. Both are friendly and helpful people who I would bet large sums of money would never do something like the OP suggested.
As far as the timeline, some people have mentioned that Mark is in the hospital. This is true, but he did attend the TX Gathering before his accident.
It'll be interesting to find out what the true story is behind all this.
