    Hood vents...

I bought this carbon fiber hood vent on Ebay from JPC Carbon about two weeks ago. It's coming from China or something along those lines..

The dimensions are 32" x 30". I'm planning on installing it on a test hood first and then decide if I want to install it on a flat CF hood or an OEM hood (will decide when I see it). Anyone else out there seen some good designs or anything they like or... don't like haha?

So would you mount that on the top side or bottom side? if OEM hood, how do you address the expansion/contraction of the two different materials?

I've seen a fiberglass version top installed with rivets. I suppose you could also blend it and glass it. I think if I mount it on a CF hood, I'll rough sand it, apply some structural epoxy resin and adhere it and then run one layer of CF over it with epoxy resin. I think it will look good wither way. I was trying to avoid having to spend 2G's on a PRM latest version hood. I want to make my next hood.

Jeremy would you like to see one step by steps of my fiberglass bonded to metal hood on my Saturn? It was out in Michigan elements all year round for 3 years, never cracked at the body work.

Subbing. I have a GT500 hood vent in a stock hood, but have a 1g stock style carbon hood sitting around. Your vent would be perfect for it. Is the front of that vent narrow enough to fit to front of car in raised "cowl" section? Also, our hoods have a decent curve in both directions. If that vent isn't curved you may have cracking problems if you try to blend it in. Just riveting may be better option in that case.

Doesn't Pete have a simple small vent? That looks easy/decent.

It appears to be the same setup as this...
