    Carbon Fiber Driveshaft

Posting in here since it gets a little more exposure than the classifieds; I'm looking to pick up a CF driveshaft the minute I find one at a fair price, new or used doesn't matter. If anyone has one let me know. PM, email, or post here. Just would rather go with a CF rather than back to stock. Looking for one piece for a 6spd.

I don't have one but you might want to note 5 or 6 speed. Also one or two piece (if that matters to you). Good luck

I have a 1 piece 6-speed shaft I could be convinced to sell. Started vibrating at 100MPH (JDM gearing, say 120ishMPH USDM) at NG12. Local shop says it has 12 thou of runout in the rear, but balance is OK. Didn't investigate further yet.

My ACPT one is the one that broke in third gear and about 14psi of boost. As far as getting any response from ACPT or even having them look at the shaft to see what the issue was (I offered to pay shipping it to them no problem), well I haven't gotten so much as a response from them. So probably going with PST if I can find one. I prefer a one piece since that is what I've used and really liked it while it worked.

Though if someone has a used ACPT shaft I would probably still take it.

No issues with my 2pc alum, steel. Would recommend. Have been seeing too many pics of snapped carbon 1 pc to risk it.

You have to be really careful with the carbon fiber driveshafts. They flex quite a bit. On my first ACPT carbon fiber drive shaft it was too close to the exhaust and I ended up milling out about a quarter inch out of the center of the drive shaft when it flexed. Shortly after I started getting a vibration so I had to have it sent out for repair and rebalance. If your exhaust, rear subframe, motor mounts or anything in close proximity of the unit isn't rigid... should you clip the driveshaft, compress it, or strech it it will broom or pop.

I track mine, launch hard, and run over double the boost you broke yours at so I think it was just an unfortunate mishap. More often then not CFDS failures are due to interference. My drive shaft torque flexes 1inch in each direction. Put a driveshaft hoop brace in the center of it to keep it from over flexing and just make sure that if your exhaust is right next to it is secured quite rigid and more than 1" away.

It did do me good since 2006 so it did last a while. Not sure what got it this round. It snapped right up near the transfer case, and completely obliterated the portion from the break to the transfer case. Exhaust is well out of the way. I do not think any debris hit it either. So on the hunt for another one, until then I'll be using a stock driveshaft, so going to be missing the CF driveshaft. As expensive as they are it has to be one of the best upgrades I've ever done as far as drive-ability goes.
