I don't have anything to test them on.

Idk about that. Cost will add up when you think about it.

    cores: 410$ + shipping ~100$ =510$
    endtank alu sheet: ~10$
    piping: ~30$
    =~550$

just for material alone. then there is welding equipment and labour.

so unless you can get some bulk discount from threadstone then I dont see 650 being worth doing it.

You mis-read. I have a car to jig from.. I don't have a stock intercooler piped car to test on a dyno. I have no desire or need for SMIC'S. I can build them, I just can't test them.

To all those "experts". This is what it will cost... If you disagree... Tell me why? If you can find a repeatable reliable vendor priced cheaper get me the info and I'll update the table and we'll adjust the cost. If you guys want to drive down the numbers it might work if you can find better pricing

Materials (tax and shipping included) Quantity Price Ea. Total
    6061 Al for end tank 1 $45 $45
    2 1/8" drill bit 1 $17 $17
    Wire 1 $3 $3
    Gas 1 $2 $2
    Cutting wheels 2 $3 $6
    Scotchbrite pad 1 $1 $1
    Sanding disc 1 $4 $4
    2" aluminum tube 3 $9 $27
    2" aluminum 90 2 $27 $54
    2" aluminum u-bend 2 $29 $58
    2" aluminum 45 1 $27 $27
    Bar and Plate cores 2 $215 $430
    Labor 1 $125 $125
    Logistics/Burden/Power/Design 1 $50 $50
    Total $839

The ends tank material is a 12"x36" sheet of 1/8" 6061 aluminum which can be used for all four end tanks with minimal waste. The only thing that gets less expensive based on order quantity is sundries (drill bits, sanding discs, cutting accessories, and so forth). That's why I won't fill an order for just one set. The economy of scale does not work for 1 set. I don't know about you guys but do you think you could build just one set in a half day? Cuts, prep, welding, fitment...? Hell no! But you can build 5 sets in 2 days if you cut and prep all of them at the same time.

The tanks... this is their cut sheet based on the measurements of the cheaper cores mb7050 had suggested.

Try find something cheaper for the piping. That's where your cost runs away. Tried Alibaba? China supplier site.

Manufacturers, Suppliers, Exporters & Importers from the world's largest online B2B marketplace-Alibaba.com

    Example:
Universal Aluminum Pipe - Buy Universal Aluminum Pipe,Aluminum Intercooler Pipe Kits,Aluminum Pipe Product on Alibaba.com

They have cores really cheap too. Probably same as cxracing on ebay uses.

not sure if they have 6061 alu though.

    Adam...

My time, design, talent, and tools are worth something. If you can do it for $650... go ahead.
Adam? Is that not your shop?

You don't even have a car to test these on and you have no interest in smic's. What is the point of this thread?

im not even looking to buy the piping just intercoolers with end tanks and inlets/outlets and for me the end tank design would have to be a bit more involved than that.

something like this would work for me(of course dimensions to match the trs cores and 2" piping) .

so going with the bigger bell 9-75-x-11-75-x-4-5 cores the pricing would have been

Materials (tax and shipping included) Quantity Price Ea. Total
    6061 Al for end tank 1 $45 $45
    2 1/8" drill bit 1 $17 $17

    2" aluminum 45 1 $27 $27
    Bar and Plate cores 2 $373 $746
    Labor 1 $125 $125
    Logistics/Burden/Power/Design 1 $50 $50
    Total $1455

im pretty certain one can get these made at bell intercoolers for less money and top notch end tank design...

My street COTM is a front clip and it's setup and done, racecar is single turbo, I do have sandstone, but I have no need for a setup like this and won't waste my dime on dyno time or some stupid elaborate testing for a $100 profit. What's the point of that? Nothing. There's not even money built into the pricing for the jig. Someone else can test them. Building something tangible to fulfill a request is the point.

I can see it's very difficult for many to visualize a part. It's not hard for me. If you tell me what it looks like, can show me an example, draw me a picture, or describe it... I can build it. That's just how I'm wired.

Why do they need to be more involved than that? You're making it harder than it needs to be. You ever seen Gene's sidemounts? I have... the design is very very similar. I'm not interested in end tank variations. I want to keep it simple. They should bolt on to stock... and require as little extra work and fitting as possible.
