Using Baro input for MAP sensor on AEM Series 1 (a heads up!)

Hello all, I recently bought an AEM s1 for my JDM Gto Twin Turbo.

Looking at installing the MAP and IAT sensors the MAF connector looked like the ideal candidate as it has all the inputs needed and +5v for the MAP sensor..

Anyway after re-assigning Baro input to MAP sensor and setting up the scale with my Mitivac I started the car, the load scales instantly reacted to TPS instead..

Long story short, you have to use the Sensors/Barometric Pressure wizzard to assign the internal AEM Baro sensor first (even if you just zero the map out), before setting up the MAP calibration.

I wasted 1/2 a day on this re-wiring etc before the penny dropped so be careful!.

I have to bump this... sorry to the old thread bump Nazis

I am having a problem like this tuning my v1. I seem to have everything set correctly, but with the "follow me" box checked, in the main fuel map. It seems to follow throttle position and not actual MAP/Load. I never used the Baro wizard until after about a week of the tuning.

How would I go about resting my Baro/MAP settings in the correct order to see if this is my problem?

    Notes:

I am using a GM 3 bar MAP sensor with a AEM v1.

The MAP Sensor is wired to my TPS like this:

"A" spliced to the Black TPS sensor wire (ground)
"B" connects to the ECU EGR pin (pin 73 for me, signal)
"C" spliced into the Green/Yellow striped TPS sensor wire (+5V)

The car drives great and I drive it daily. But I have pretty much tuned it solely on throttle placement. Even though I believe I have all the load based tuning settings correct

I understand this post is a few years old, however I have an AEM v1 I am trying to hook up and I want to use the baro input for my MAP sensor. Is this successfully working for you? I've tried setting up the inputs and using the internal baro as recommended, but can't get it work correctly.

Hello, I never followed up with this but there seems to be some firmware issue that causes the MAP sensor to fault when tied to the Baro oin no matter how you assign them in the software.

It seems hard coded to fault if the Baro pin on the ecu sees output from a MAP sensor while the car is running.

I wonder if it has anything to do with maf setting being off and the ecu ignores a group of inputs

It's possible. When you look at the baro input on the documentation, it does say that it's dedicated. It's certainly almost positively software in my eyes as the input reads fine with the key on and engine off. Too bad aem doesn't support the v1 anymore or we could probably get an answer.

There's your answer... I was unaware of that. It's "available" for the V2.

Quick update, just in case anyone sees this thread. I swapped the pins for the baro and egr in the ecu harness. This allowed me to use a speed density harness for plug and play iat and map sensor.
