Well, I can't get it to run correctly. It throws CEL occasionally and rev's real rough. It did the same thing when I put the 'good' ECU in it that I borrowed from Bob. Which means I need to start digging and see what I can find. It also smokes from above the rear turbo when running which I hope is just a bad gasket on the downpipe.

That and there's no 1st gear. I'll probably swap in my whole 6spd drivetrain, rebuild the 5spd and sell it along with the TC, driveshaft, and diff.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. It'll be one cold step at a time since I'll probably only be able to work on it outdoors in January.

Why is this thread so dead here. Speak up guys.

As some of you know I recently rebuilt the engine in my 91 VR4, three days later the ECU shit out again. I decided enough was enough with the 1st gen ECU's. I now run a 94 VR4 ECU, it runs very well. The only problem with this is that the crank/cam senors on the 94 have a different latency than the 91. What this means is the ECU with advance timing more than it should. To correct this for now I have the timing a little retarded at idle to hopefully make up for some of the timing advance that comes on at higher RPM.

Just wanted to give this thread a boost. Whats going on with you guys ?
