I have had a setrab 619 and an ebay 19 row cooler side by side, they are both similar size and capacity, the Setrab is heavier but that is most likely due to the fact that they do use some steel in their design vs all aluminum. Yes its nicer, but as far as function goes that can be debated, I do not think there is a significant gain other than the peace of mind you have a well known and well made core rather than an unknown one, but my point stands the source of these cores is probably more common than you think. Still an upgrade over the tiny stock one lol.

I have a Setrab core here. I may just cut it in half along with one of the ones we use in our kits. Then there is no real dispute.

For god sakes somebody post up something empirical like weight, dimension, capacity, maybe cut that shit open and post a picture? The feel good stuff is worthless.

I think it's time to start a "cut it open thread"!

Lol, I will cut open the ebayer, Im not touching the setrab though lol. I think the worry's about foreign material being loose in the core is pretty far fetched. Not saying China always makes top notch stuff but if they are a company that only makes heat exchanger cores they are going to have at least some quality control.

That being said, I am all for supporting USA product even if its a few bucks more and far superior quality, unfortunately these days USA made usually means astronomical pricing too.

what do you think about the derale oil coolers?

Derale 16 Pass Electra Cool Replacement Cooler Core 8AN Inlets 15300 | eBay

only problem would be corrosion. something that happened to my oem copper radiator. but copper should have better heat transfer than alu.

also what is about the max size you can fit side mounted? I have fmic so side mount oil cooler is prefered here.

That would vary depending on your front mount piping. You'd need to measure it out yourself and see, then you can either order a core that fits as is, or modify the pipes. You *can* tilt or pivot the cooler for a bit of extra clearance but as you do, the cooling will get progressively (perhaps exponentially) worse. I ended up running a metal bar across the top of my FMIC to bolt that to the center piece in front of the bumper, and ran it out over the driver side to bolt the SMOC to so that it was forward of the pipes and had as much clearance as possible to fit.
