The effects in the 2011 were filmed with real models then modified with cgi. Look up adi studios on youtube, they spent a LOT of time and have really good props for the creatures.

They used too much CG then.

this is a list that can go on for a while. the real question is--regardless of who they cast, why would you watch it?

Personally I liked the 2014 Robocop. I liked the way they played out the man vs machine and people vs mega corporation themes.
