    Ender's Game.

3-10. shit was just flat out terrible. the only redeming quality it had were the special effects which were few and far between.

Good to know. I'll steer clear.

I think I might be the only person on the planet who thought Prometheus was a fantastic precursor to Alien. I'm looking forward to the second one. I have NO idea why there's so much hate for Ridley Scott. The man deserves to be worshiped--compared to what George Lucas did with Star Wars.

Also looking forward to Sin City 2 & Ninja Turtles--but I don't expect much from Ninja Turtles--I just pray it's better than the last one.

Prometheus - I thought it was very good, though there were a few things that were left unclear to the average movie goer. also,

his usage of straight lines & movement (static movement) vs. dynamic movement to show inside the box thinking (& inability to think outside the box) vs. outside the box movement. a giant donut shaped space ship is rolling at you - fucking run left or right, oh wait, you're running straight because you are unable to think outside the box, bitch.

I laughed a lot but that's my kinda movie. They rip on how they look 30 not 20 all the time, their "relationship", and make fun of how they thought 21 was gonna be a bust in the movie. PS I think ice cube steals the show. So does the blond chick.

I completely agree with this entire post. I thought Prometheus was real good. though the scene with the worm and 2 guys was a little disturbing but that's to be expected. personally to me it left more questions than answers. who were the Alien dudes? what were they doing and why where they doing it?

I concur. I was screaming in my head, "run left bitch!!!!" alas she did not.

I enjoyed the open-ended-ness of Prometheus. A LOT of people I have had this discussion with--did not. I get the feeling most people wanted to be spoon-fed; have the plot fill in all the holes, leave no questions to be asked.

Ridley Scott did none of that. Aside from the few small critiques (rolling spaceship, etc)--I think he did a wonderful job.

The Engineers were engineering a biogenic/biological weapon. Earth was seeded with DNA purely as a testbed to test the lethality of said weapon. We exist because our planet was intended to be used in clinical trials for engineered xenomorphs. Unfortunately, nature took things into its own hands, and the xenomorphs not only got free--they started replicating on their own (which as far as I can tell was NOT part of the weapon design). Hence why there are man-made cylinders and--later--eggs. I'm not certain that the design of said weapon was finalized, but nature seemed to dictate a life-cycle for xenomorphs by the time Alien came around. And yes, Dr. Shaw, et. al. landed on LV-223. Not the same planet from Alien and Aliens--though it damn well should have been, seeing as how the ship, control room and suited creator were all features in the original movie--almost picture perfect.

Most of this I piece together myself after contemplating the movie for a few hours after having seen it. You can find more info here:

In a nutshell: "bio-weapon goes terribly wrong and turns on its creators"

actually, scratch that. black liquid was the plan. how it reacted with existing lifeforms is what caused the problems. i don't think xenomorphs were ever intended anymore than the snakes were.
