    Hunger Games 1 - 3/10.

20 minutes into it, I knew the plot summary for the entire trilogy (or whatever). Mediocre acting. Plot holes you could drive a greyhound bus through. Utter suspension of disbelief required for most of it. I understand plot devices being used to engage the audience and/or elicit emotional response from them--but when they're so blatantly pedestrian that the audience is patently aware of them....it's just brutal to watch.

It seems fairly clear to me that Suzanne Collins is trying to cash in on following JK Rowling's model of success. As to why shitstain tripe like this gets green-lighted and donkey-punched through production while the works of Douglas Adams languish in obscurity---well that's essentially a crime against humanity. Instead we get this, Twilight & Harry Potter. Fuck I weep openly for the human race.

Premium Rush -- 6/10. Interesting movie, but nothing too special. Not Joseph Gordon-Levitt's typical role but he handles it well. I think Michael Shannon makes it worthwhile solidly playing the antagonist.

Blue Jasmine -- 4/10. Woody Allen movies seem to be a big hit or miss with me. This one seems to beat to death how crazy women can be. We know, Woody.

Dallas Buyers Club -- 8/10. McConaughey and Leto's transformations for the roles are extreme but add substantially to their portrayals of the main characters from this "based on true events" story.

American Hustle -- 8/10. Clever con movie, great performances all around. The problem is that any con movie anymore must be compared to "The Sting" and this just doesn't get up there.

Rush -- 9/10. Terrific film. Loved the intensity, the rivalry, the glamour and the glory of it all.

Yeah, "The Sting" was the apex of the genre.

I've been seeing some stuff online about the next Expendables movie. Wesley Snipes and Antonio Banderas join the crew and Mel Gibson will be the bad guy. Harrison Ford and Kelsey Grammer are both in it, but I haven't seen what their roles will be. Should be some more mindless fun with lots of stuff blowing up!!

captain america winter soldier. 9/10. very good for a superhero movie. LOVED that GSP had a bit in it.

the amazing spiderman 2. 8.5/10. pretty decent. a little annoying with the wishy-washy peter parker deciding whether or not to love gwen stacy. jamie foxx is a great actor, but you can't help but notice that his delivery of max dillon is a completely ripoff of jim carey's edward nigma from batman forever. dane dehann seriously looks like a younger mark hamil, imho...so he should be cast in the new star-wars saga. i didn't much care for "corny spiderman in action" scenes from the beginning of the movie. TOO much like the toby mcguire movies and i disliked those in the extreme.

hunger games: catching fire. 4/10. so cliche. still horribad. acting isn't quite as annoying this time though. still plot holes you can drive an oil tanker through.

    The Amazing Spiderman 2...... 5/10.

I may not be the biggest Spiderman fan around but The Amazing Spiderman (first one) I thought was very entertaining. This one, not so much. I had a pretty hard time staying awake towards the end as it was all too predictable -- hard not to be when the last reboot of the same character is only a bit more than a decade old. Really looking forward to the new X-Men, though.

There's no way Xmen is going to be better. It's STILL on a downward spiral.

watched Crash again last night for the first time in a while. 9/10. it was awesome. at first I'm thinking, "oh great. another, all white people are racist movie". but then it goes on and pretty much shows that everyone is. really liked the way all the stories came together and the acting was awesome.
