    Help me pick out tools

Can't make up my mind. Need two 24mm tools for rear end alignment. Could get two 24mm wrenches but I'd rather have a socket and a wrench (more versatile in the future). So..

Sockets: I have no impact sockets right now so I could get a shallow kit with a 24 in it. Or should I buy a set of chrome sockets that are larger than the ones I have now (won't be doubling up on size). Can't decide if I would use the bigger sizes more or the impact more. Probably impact..

Wrench: Could just buy a 24mm wrench for $15 or should I get a set of 5 large wrenches for $50. I'm thinking just the one but if there are a lot of jobs that use bigger wrenches I would rather buy them as a set and save money in the long run.

Side note: Will a shallow work with lug nuts? I've always used deep and/or an extension so I'm not banging my wheel up.

i picked up big wrenches at harbor freight for like 18$ for a whole set.

Work perfect, so dont use them as pry bars or you will get hit in the face when the explode.....ask me how i know.

Thanks for both of those posts. I was actually thinking about picking up some suction cups to run strings for the alignment from HF. I have always gotten most of my hand tools from Sears just because they are reasonably priced/quality and if they break they will replace them. But if I can buy three sets from HF for the same price I may go that route.

Very interested in seeing these rubber sockets!

A while ago I debated between buying a set of large sockets vs. an individual. I cheaped out and since then have ended up buying every other individual large socket that I could have just got as a set. I always seem to need a size I dont have at 2 in the morning on top of that. Wish I would have just bought the set and been done with it. Currently in need of a 30mm socket for the rear axle stub nuts and its put my project on hold for a week because no one local has one.

Also I tend to go for impacts over regular large sockets as they serve 2 purposes instead of just 1.

And +1 for Harbor Freight, never broken a socket, wrench, gear wrench, ratchet or extension from them and they have a lifetime warranty if I do. Actually the only thing from them I have been able to break is their shitty snap ring pliers and vice grips.

Thats the coolest thing about HF, everything has a lifetime warranty if you go in and try to return it, whether you paid the extra or not, they will replace it.

YOu just have to survive the 'accident' when it breaks.
