Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel = Bad Idea?

Does a carbon fiber steering wheel like this one sound as fake or bad of an idea as I think it does in terms of strength and longevity compared to any metal steering wheel? Not to mention that it doesn't look like this one is of a reputable brand.

There are good cars that get you from point A to point B, and then there are great cars, that get you into trouble.

I could Think of many things that are 10x more weightloss/$-ratio justified.

why would you buy that when your whole chassi is made of steel! it's like a fart in space, no difference.

buy a regular alu one from ebay for 40$ or whatever

Eh, I wouldn't buy for anything but looks. Weight savings isn't what I'm asking about anyway.

Well it looks pretty good but that's pretty damn expensive. I'd rather find an alternative that looks good then put the rest of the cash into go fast stuff. I think that's what Ange was saying.

Absolutely. It is pricey for sure. I've seen plenty of Momo and Sparco wheels that cost less than this. However I have been told that most cheap wheels at least under $100 can break after very short use. When I say short, I mean less than a year which surprises even me! Happened to a friend of mine just from driving on the street most of the time.

IIRC my steering wheel was $43 shipped, with the adapter. From EBAY.

I don't exactly play nice with my cars. I still can't fathom how someone would break it.

Yea, I don't know how he could have broken his either, but that's what he said. I don't get it.

It looks really nice! I actually like that a lot. I know that would be really slippery. I have a wood grain one in my Volvo and it's really slippery (and gets hot as hell in the sun)

In the race car I run an OMP. The suede of the wheel actually interlocks with the suede on my gloves which allows for a lighter touch and better feel.
