    Corbeau Seat Install

Been selling these for a couple years now and finally pulled the trigger on a set for my car. Went with A4's in black and a set of 5 point harnesses.

The two biggest complaints on the Corbeaus over the years have been that their brackets don't fit for shit and their seats sit too high.

We've been working with them on the brackets and they have finally got them that fit. I have had a problem with them sending out the old style brackets but they have ensured me that isn't the case anymore and they should fit fine. That "should" is there because every car can be a bit different so don't be surprised if you have to enlarge the mounting holes a bit. Mine were an old set that I modified to help them figure out how to modify them. Even for them the modification wasn't that drastic. If you have an old set still sitting around let me know and I can give you some measurements to modify.

As for the height issue. Pay the extra for a "shaved base" and you'll end up with an extra inch or so of headroom. Without the shaved based you're at about the same as stock, maybe a little less. I think the problem before was the way people were modifying the old brackets to fit with washers all over that spaced it up a bit. With that said I can really only comment on the A4 but I imagine most other lines are close to the same height.

Other than that install was pretty straight forward. Old seats out. Belt buckles off the old seats and onto the new ones (wanted to keep the standard belts with the harnesses). Then just bolt everything in. They slide clean (I just have the single locker) and look good.

Harnesses were a straight forward install for the most part. I have a roll bar (which you should have too if you're putting in any harnesses) so the shoulder belts wrapped around that. The outside lap belt connected to where the stock belt connects, I just removed a spacer and bolted the harness there. I did have to drill holes for the submarine belt (in line with the rear mounting points of the seat, centered, be careful with the fuel lines on the passenger side) and on the drive shaft tunnel for the other lap belt. They assumed you were using stock mounting locations so didn't include nuts with the harness hardware. I'll let you know what size to get once I pick some up.

Overall I'm really happy. They're nice quality seats, especially for the price. I see them lasting a long time. They're also super comfortable and the bolsters will hold you in on the track/auto-x/curvy road..I might not even need the harnesses.

If you guys are interested in a set shoot me a PM and I'll get you pricing. They have a decent selection of seats and harnesses. Any questions on the install or anything else about them let me know also. Onto the pics...

why keep the rear seat if you installed a rollbar? May aswell delete them. Not that they weigh much.

Looks mainly. I'll probably get rid of them once I have time to fab something up that can replace them without just seeing floor there.

If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you, how tall do the seats sit compared to stock, and what is your waist? I have been curious about these for a very long time, just haven't made my mind up if I want new seats or replace old red leather with new.

Modifications weren't drastic? The modifications necessary to make the brackets fit the car better weren't drastic. The modifications necessary to get the drivers seat down far enough so that I had any space between my helmet and the head liner was drastic... 5'11".

Shaved base? Is this referring to the fiberglass shell on the seat that I had to shave? This was critical and provided a shocking amount of height, but I'm not sure I'd want it done at the factory. This was how I set the lean of the fixed-back seats.

5'8", 32" waist. I'd say about an extra inch of headroom over stock. I can fit my fist between the top of my head and the headliner with a bit of extra space so probably 5" or so of room.

Maybe the fixed seats are different. To get the brackets to fit I just had to modify the rear inside mounting point by welding a tab to make it sit higher.

The shaved base seats are exactly that. I went with reclining seats so the lean wasn't an issue. I sit way up on the steering wheel with a straightish back so I imagine most other people would get even more room if they recline and slide back a bit.

Hopefully you didn't get one of the old sets of brackets with the fitment issues. If so we can exchange them or if you have access to a welder I can show you how to modify them.

Nice work Terry! This might be a future upgrade of mine if I start doing more road courses.
