PIC stands for Private Industry Counsel.

Long story short. My mom is a Pre-K teachers aide. The Pre-K program depends on the state budget every year. It is written in their handbook that they are 10 month employees, but they are paid over a 12 month period. They were sent a letter saying if the state budget didn't pass by June 30, that they would be laid off effective July 1. That wasn't anything new, it's happened before.

They got a text message on June 30 saying something along the lines of "Congratulations the grant has gone through, everyone still has jobs. Enjoy your summer and see you in August."

Now, they are telling them that they are going to get paid over 10 months, and they won't get paid again until the new school year. No one will give them a straight answer as to why this changed, and how they can change it. I told her not to let it drop and go to Labor Law and whoever else can help.
