CDI ignitions like those used in motorcycles and other small powersport products, as well as MSD boxes and many other aftermarket ignition systems, have always spec'd non resistor plugs. Inductive coil systems have almost always spec'd resistor plugs. The difference has to do with spark voltage and duration. CDI systems typically have a very short duration high voltage spark that doesn't play well with resistance. Inductive systems have a lower voltage high duration spark, that uses the plug resistance to bump the spark voltage a bit..
The big mystery here, has to do with the internal workings of the DLI. Being as it is a CDI system, with a transistor controlled spark duration, augmenting a stock inductive coil system...
How it works, and what plugs may give optimum spark voltage and duration is not common knowledge, and not really expanded on by the manufacturer.
The only advice I can offer, is if what you're doing works, don't fix what isn't broken....
I've seen a fair few motorcycle ecus destroyed by running none resistor plugs, not a dig just an observation..
