Rusty wheels from brake/rotor dust? Solution!

So as Paul said, I rode my car hard and put it up wet last fall. Turns out all that brake/rotor dust rusted and caked onto the rim. It would not come off with a wheel cleaner. So I decided to try out WD-40's new rust dissolver. It's supposedly safe for paint so I decided to soak my rims in it. I took a couple sheets of drop cloth plastic and put it over the rim and bungied it around the tire. I then flipped it over so the rim and plastic was face down sealing it. I then poured two gallons of the stuff until it covered the face of the rim. I let it sit for about 24hours. I was amazed on how well it worked!

Over here in the UK we get a cleaner called Iron X made by carpro. It is THE best at removing iron contaminants from wheels and paintwork.

Not sure if you get it over there though?

Damn! that did work well. I wonder if it would hurt chrome?

Not sure, this is what I used: Rust Remover | Rust Removal & Dissolver | Clean Rust Off From Metal

I guess you could try a small piece first to make sure.
