So finally got everything installed. Filled the oil and coolant. Had to fix a leak in the coolant neck. Today I primes the engine and fired it up. Not happy with the noise it is making. When I rev it up at the throttle body it back fires pretty bad. Checked the plug wires and found a rear bank plug is not firing. I'm hoping the noise and back firing is being caused by that cylinder not firing. Here is a video of the fist start up.

One of the 450's cutting out? Aren't you using those nice connectors without the p.i.t.a. metal clips? If so, possibly bad splice? It's always the little things...

Guess I forgot to update this thread...


So I pulled the rear valve clover an found 4 rockets had fallen off due to collapsed lifters. Guess they didn't hold the prime over the last 6 months. I went to re-install them and found one of the valves was dragging so looks like it is bent.

I decided I'm not killing myself over the last couple weeks to get it ready for BRG so it sits outside now with a bent valve. I'll get it fixed when I get back from BRG.

On a good note when it was running the oil pressure was awesome...LOL

Yeah I was pretty bummed about it. I did sort of push things last min on getting it all together. But it is not stopping me from coming so that is good.

That sucks about the bent valve but your engine looks great. Very impressed with the CF hydrographics.
