Cutoff Dates for NG13 and Status of NG14

Let's start with NG13... You MUST be registered and have your balance paid before the end of the day on Saturday, June 29th. If not, you risk having your registration cancelled, or at least any unpaid events. If you're planning to attend NG13, but wish to pay on-site... PLEASE register on-line, then let us know that's what you'll be doing. It will at least insure that a t-shirt will be saved for you (if your size is available - the cutoff for t-shirts was June 9th), and that we will have badges, etc., printed for you ahead of time. This saves us a lot of time and energy (and stress) on-site. If you absolutely can't do that, then that's ok, too. We'll deal with it.

NG14... Every year, without fail, I get the question... "Will there be an NG14?" As most of you probably know, I've said that I'll continue planning NG's until they no longer break even. The first time we lose money will be the last. This year is no different. Right now, we're a bit shy of breaking even, but it's still do-able. We're hoping for last-minute race events being added, raffle ticket sales, and t-shirt sales. We're of course also hoping for a flood of last-minute registrations. We'll keep you posted as we get closer. I think everyone in attendance this year is going to be VERY happy with everything we have planned and all that's been done to make this event really special.

I've received a couple of emails from people who want to attend only the free events so they can avoid paying the registration fee. Let me just say... THIS is what will be the death of the NG. If you want to play, make sure you pay. We put our hearts and souls into this event and never take a dime for doing it. We even pay for the majority of our trip down, in two vehicles, AND neither of us gets paid for our time off work. When the NG doesn't break even, that comes from us, too. Your registration fee goes to pay for things like insurance for the event as a whole, registration materials, the banquet, the car show location rental, and much more. If you decide to come "hang out" and don't have a badge, please expect those who did pay their dues to escort you off the premises. You won't be nearly as welcome as you expect. We ask you to pay $125 to attend... Believe me, it costs us WAY more than that, so when I get complaints about the registration fee, you can just imagine what that does to my enthusiasm and willingness to do this... At least I know there are many who will defend both us AND the NG.

See you in about 2 weeks!

There are many who don't get it, but for those of us who do, we greatly appreciate what you do for our platform. For someone who doesn't even own one of these money pits herself, you do more for the platform than 99% of the owners. Let's hope things get better financially so we can have more NG's in the future.

We've actually been giving that a fair amount of consideration. It would sure make my life easier, but that's not what it's about. There are considerable distances between tracks, which is always an issue. We're thinking about it, though. This one HAS to break even first. People need to register!

TBH, Waterford hills isn't a great track. I much prefer gingerman.

Well said! It's not a job I'd want. Lori does a great job and NG seems to get better every year.

Thanks, guys, but I'm honestly not fishing for compliments. More just venting than anything else regarding people who want to just show up but think the prices are too high. Those who have been NEVER complain (except one). We try to put together a really good value... I'm so excited for people to arrive this year! I think it's going to be pretty amazing!!

I also was just trying to answer about 20 emails with just one response. I've got tons to do in about a week (as always). It's under control, but still... See you in 2 weeks! I can't wait!! Everyone should plan to arrive early so I don't have to wait as long (AND you can do the road rally/poker run/thingie-ma-bobby-do!).

I know but you deserve it.

Looks like I’ll be there Thursday, I wish I could make it sooner but I can’t get the time off work.

Lori, even though I am going to be unable to attend, yet again, I definitely thank you and the committee for the jobs you do.

Keep us up to date on how close the finances are. I would gladly throw a few dollars the NG's way if it means there will be another one next year.
