TT Conversion Questions

Mine was an NA AWD so didn't have issues with fitting inter coolers. I also only fitted a single 5" think alloy IC on the drivers side ( your pass side!) ad had custom pipework made to suit so the engine bay is clear.

Well, mine is an NA AWD too (JDM), but I have a very hard time fitting the intercooler pipes on the driver's (right) side of the car. A transmission pan is in the way and no matter how I bend the pipes, it still won't fit around good enough... I was more concerned with the passenger side where the steel plate needed to be cut, but that actually worked out pretty smooth. How did you fit your intercooler pipes on the side of the transmission (right side of the car)? I was reading a thread of a guy nick-named Big Tyla on 3si and in his TT conversion thread, he mentions that he had to cut one of the pipes shorter and use soft piping, in order to make it fit around. However, this didn't seem to be enough since the soft piping ended up being squashed between the transmission pan I mentioned and the evap canister so he removed the canister... How did it work out for you? I am thinking about heating up the intercooler pipes so I can bend them the way I need to, but someone told me that heating aluminium is not a good idea, because it is so soft...

Sorry i left out one vital point...mine is a Manual . The gearbox is a fair bit smaller than the ATX. I had custom pipes made to suit what i wanted as i only have one SMIC fitted. The main 2.75" throttle pipe has a 150mm silicon joiner where it drops down passed the gearbox and joins the lower pipe from the IC. Just use some flexable ribbed piping to make the IC pipes past the ATX.

I get it now... Okay, I will probably just cut one of the pipes shorter and use flexible piping to get it to fit around the ATX. Thanks for your help!
