    igofast yellow car resurrection

It has been just over a year, but the yellow car runs and moves under it's own power again. Granted there are a few cosmetic things to get done and AC to get working......................BUT IT MOVES UNDER POWER!!!!!!! There were numerous occasions I thought this would NEVER HAPPEN. It first fired on 12 May, the day before her birthday. But the head gaskets leaked water to the outside. Pulled the heads and fixed that. Next fire up was 25 May, the day before the one year anniversary of her engine demise. This time the car sounded like it had severe HLA tick or possibly even rod knock. Stethoscope said no noise in bottom. Put in second new set 3rd gen lifters. No change. Then noticed cam sprocket on rear exhaust looked like it was wobbling. Found this:

Those are the cam angle sensor blades where they were hitting the magnetic sensor. The sprocket bolt had been "tightened" but not torqued. It was just loose enough to allow the sprocket to move enough to contact the pick up. Mind you, engine would start, run and drive. Before I went to the solid BLE tensioner, I had an issue where the car sounded like a bicycle with playing cards in the wheel spokes. I was convinced it was the hydraulic tensioner. Nope. The AC pulley is attached to the clutch with six tiny bolts. They had all worked loose, the holes egg shaped and the noise was from the wobbling AC pulley.

See why I think I'm a magnet for weird problems that no one else in the world ever has? But I digress. I did say it finally runs, right? And quiet as a church mouse!!!!!!!! Look see:

The list of those who helped me through this year+ long battle is too long for one thread. Besides, I forget half of them. So, to all who helped (even if only as a patient listener while I whined) get me to this proud day: THANK YOU, FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks good! I'll be doing a black engine bay on my yellow car too once I pull the motor.

    Milt you make me nervous...LOL
So glad you have it going but if a pro like you has problems getting it pulled together I don't stand a chance!

    Nice work buddy!

Weellllllllllllllllll.............Until the knee replacement surgery on 1 March 2013, I was hardly a "pro" anything. Unable to even walk much, I was completely unable to bend/twist/kneel/or even bend down without excruciating pain for nearly a year. The partial knee replacement was like a miracle! Still can't kneel on it, but that will come. Right now, I can move a thousand times better. And I can actually work again, if only for limited hours at a time.

Thank all of you for your good wishes and kind comments.

Glad to hear your testimonial for the procedure, Milt.

I could use two new knees myself.
