No. The knock sensor doesn't need to be "retuned" for different fuels. You tune it for your specific engine.
See, the code is setup to detect sudden noises outside the average engine noise to a certain point. It's that point which varies motor to motor. Higher octane fuels will just simply not produce "pings" too far outside the average engine noise.

^Yep. As well as the valvetrains in these heads are inherently noisy. Different springs, solid lifters, etc, can greatly change the noise level.

Contrary to what was once thought the stock knock sensor can detect noise for any fuel. The solution was discovered by a few engineers at EvoM about 5 years ago.
One thing to note, in order to properly tune for knock you can't use your typical MUT loggers. Deconstructors of Open Flash at EvoM determined it's best to use DMA logging accelerators because they catch every ignition timing event and you can disseminate.
You can cruise thru this thread to learn how to log engine noise and fine-tune. Knock control - load vs RPM table found - evolutionm.net . Best of luck.

I had thought about re-writing the entire knock base subroutines to match closer to the EVO but haven't yet encountered a need for it. The current filter/octane setup works just fine.
