I was thinking that wrinkle paint would look really cool on the trans, but do you guys think it would raise the temperature much?

I'd be more worried about chipping it when trying to get it back in the car. Granted you are dropping motor/trans in all at once, but still. And I'm sure you would coat the entire thing at once? If it ever needed to be seperated for a rebuild it would crack up. A thin high heat paint may be a better option. I just cleaned mine up with some degreeser and scotch brite pad. It' s not that visible with all the intake/intercooler piping hiding it. You could delete your abs while your engine is out if you haven't already. I wish I did mine when my motor was out.

Not super worried about chips, they repair easily. My trans is pretty raunchy looking and you can see it from the top. I rebuilt it last year, so hopefully it won't have to come apart again soon, but if it doesn't I'm not super worried about it. You could paint a dirt floor with this wrinkle paint and it would look good. I think for now I'll keep abs on this one as it works okay.

Just more worried about hurting the transmissions heat transfer because this stuff is pretty thick.

I used some silver engine paint on mine. Looks good; like brand new aluminum.

Same here. Makes spotting any potential leaks on the bottom pretty easy, and you can wipe it down very easily with a rag to clean up any debris or whatever from the top. At the very least, looks better than it did before I painted it.
