Interesting brake fade video

While going through Saf68's videos on YouTube I found this video comparing the stock gen 2 VR4 brakes against the AP racing brakes supposedly available as an upgrade on the MR cars (I've never heard of this option before).

The video clearly shows what we all have known for a long time. The problem with the stock brakes is not stopping power but rather brake fading due to high temperatures after repeated use.



I upgraded my car with EBC Red Stuff pads a few years ago which reduced the fading a lot. However now the high temperatures of the discs actually melt the dust boots on my calipers.

Our cars really need bigger front brakes if you plan on going to track days or do any form of circuit racing.

After 13 stops from 150 km/h to 0 the brake distance of the stock brakes has doubled.

Lol ap racing improved when temp was over 400 deg.
I have heard of these and seen videos of them but never heard of anyone with them.

I've seen pics of a couple MR's with the AP option. They had grey calipers like stock so you had to look close to notice them.

I spoke to AP about the option and they absolutely refuse to acknowledge that the MRs were sold with AP brakes. They suggested that Maybe Mitsu was putting on Evo 3 WRC calipers based on the pics I had available. Anyone have any better pictures?
