Didn't want to clutter Chris's thread, but wanted to post this...Before and after Cam Degree on DR Street Cams (WebCam)
I could only find one 3rd gear log before I degreed my cam and compared to an after. Blue is before, set at +1, -3, which I now know means nothing. Red is after, degreed and set according to cam card (110* lobe center). Degreed to cam card, I ended up at Front bank: +1.5 Intake +8 Exhaust. Rear: +5.5 Intake +2.5 Exhaust. So the +8 cam was actually 11* off before when set at -3.
Timing is a little lower on red pull. Intake temps are 10* higher on the red pull, so it's not cold air making it spool faster. Not the same road, but both fairly flat. Both are just on wastegate springs; no duty cycle added with boost control. Blue pull was with open downpipe, vs 3" exhaust on red pull (which should have helped spool even).
Not a perfect comparison, but validates the "butt dyno." The real takeaway is above...8* off if I would use stock cam gears or set adj to zero. 11* off if you go with common knowledge +1-3. Your results WILL VARY. Every cam is different. Every car is different.
After cam is degreed to cam card and you know each cam is set to cam card correctly for your car (head or block decking will throw things off, or 74 swap), then you can tune the cams to your desired results with retarding/advancing. Exhaust, turbo, intake changes will have a different effect on each car. Trial and error will be necessary on dyno preferably, or VD road pulls, or track. I can't wait to get to the point where I can start playing with different cam timing.
