GCtech TD04 Front Header Impressions

No coating on the inside of mine thankfully. EGT in the rear bank got up to around 940C on long pulls. I didn't spray anything on them to clean them or otherwise after the install.

yea, I'd call them and see what they say, might be a fluke thing covered under warrantee hopefully.

Has anyone else bought these and done a before and after? One where they didn't change the turbos or tune or anything else?

If I recall correctly Gil did do a before and after dyno from changing just the front manifold with no other changes and picked up somewhere around 10hp.

I just finished installing this along with my new DR750 turbos. I figure I'd give my 2 cents to maybe help out prospective buyers and wrench turners.

I ordered it from Ninja performance for the price of $450

I remember GC had some kind of customer service debacle, perhaps that's why?

His coated one that peeled was an OEM rear header. So I doubt this has anything to do with the header, its a defect in the coating or coating process. Also chris no longer has any, the best place to get em is through Gil @ Gctech, send him a PM or find him on facebook. He just quoted me around 1200 for both manifold and both O2 housings.

Just talked to Swaintech, they claim this bubbling and peeling is "normal and there is still great insulating properties left" and they would not refund or recoat the headers. They also admitted that they have had these complaints before and they tell other people the same thing.

I asked why this is happening with their coating and not other ceramic coatings and they said that it is due to the expanding metal and hot spots on the parts and that it is normal.

They didn't give a reason to why there is no mention of this in their advertising.

IMO I would steer away from using their expensive white lightning coating or any of their other coatings in the future.
