Best HID and/or where to buy HID replacement bulbs.

I did a quick search as well as looked through our min vendors.

Short story, I broke one of my HID bulbs.

Where is the best place to buy replacements? Is there a preferred vendor, or should I just hit up Amazon and/or eBay?

And while we're on the subject, just to add for the future who are searching, who makes the best 3S HID conversion kits?

    Thanks!
    -John

I think you'd need to measure them to find the right size projector replacement. Somethings like hidplanet.com would probably have the resources to get a replacement of some sorts. Alternatively, buy another headlamp with a cracked plastic/glass or whatever for like 100 bucks off of ebay and just take what you need.

For a 2nd gen I'd just find another set of the high beam lenses and replace the stock fresnel low beam lenses. Then HID to your heart's content using plug in kits.

I've heard this before but IIRC John has the 99 lexan headlights. Not sure how easy it is to open them up and change the lens.

John - where did you originally get your HID setup. I went with DDM 35W and have been happy. The slim ballasts fit right under the headlamp assemblies. Pretty sure I can buy replacement bulbs from them too.

No, I'm looking for just the bulbs and kits (for information purposes). The lenses are fine.

    I'll check out HIDPlanet.com

Not sure, they came with the car. The ballast is very slim and fits between the headlight at the bucket so you cannot see them unless you're looking for them. They have worked great whatever they are, no issues except for the fact that I crushed a bulb when they were out.

I liked my DDM kit too. It might even be a DDM kit, or maybe an ebay kit on your car now. HID kits are so cheap you may as well just replace them.

Jim, they come apart just like any of the other lights.

Agreed, go with a DDM kit. I swear they're all just about the same unless you get some fancy PIAA or Hella kit, they're all made in the same chinese factory.

Also advise the swapping of lenses, makes them much less blinding to oncoming traffic and much better light projection for the driver as well, and adds the nice sharp cut-off.

And also as said, all the projector/fixed headlights for all years of our cars are all the same in procedure of removing the glass/lexan cover.

DDM use to be like 35 bucks for a set, so I wouldn't really even bother messin around with a replacement part, just scrap'em n buy new if you need somethin.

    That's my .02¢
