Too many rules, and it ceases to be a sport. How boring would watching football be with out seeing/hearing play call. Play calling is an infused part of the game, and imo the game would suffer without it. So he got his signals sniped! Be as good with your signals, as you are with your passing, and win the game. OH! The crowds too loud? Booooo F-ing WHOOOO!

Look, if the pro-bowl had ZERO people watching it on TV, I'd say you might have a case about "too many rules". But that's not the case--and the pro bowl has way more rules than regular games. They've added rules and rules and rules for the past 10 years, and it didn't stop interest.

Oh, and for what it's worth, ALLOWING earpieces/headsets for the entire team would mean 1 less rule--the rule that banned them.

Probowl is the worst game of the season as far as competitive play. Only thing cool is the fact that all the greats are on The field at once.

Defense are handicapped with all kinds of ridicules rules now. Making football pc has also changed the game for the worse.

The 1 less rule comment is not valid, as I could list 100,000 things NOT allowed as well. It is not that they were banned. They just allowed what they have, and no more.

I think that there's something to be said for only one player hearing the plays. It increases the value for players who can read the opposing side and make corrections. what separates the best teams from the worst teams is having players on each side that can do that.

For what it's worth, I thought the Pro Bowl this year was more competitive and enjoyable than some of the real games that were played and broadcast this season.

Don't get me wrong, I miss the days when the game hit harder and scores were lower and receivers crapped their pants at the thought of going over the middle, but no matter what, the game is going to evolve over time anyhow. The ability to bump and run encourages playing man defense, which would actually make it weaker versus the zone read that has been popular the last few years. The move to more cover 2 zone defenses means that the best way to attack the defense is slot receivers and tight ends going up the seams as opposed to the short slants and crossing routes that were popular when man coverage was the defense of choice. That said, you look at the best defenses the last couple years: they utilize a lot of man coverage to do it, and it helps that receivers don't play against it often anymore. The move towards zone defenses came even before the rule outlawing bump and run coverage.

Best league championship, worst all-star game. Apparently they changed the format of the pro bowl this year. I had no idea it was even on and was probably taking a dump or playing counter-strike.
