seriously though, sf vs. ne = team with 6 appearances and 5 wins vs. team with 7 appearances and 3 wins

denver vs. seattle = team with 6 appearances and 2 wins vs. team with 1 appearance and 0 wins.

...anyone with 3rd grade math skills can see which game would be more exciting to watch.
That's just history; it doesn't have an impact on how "exciting" it is to watch a game IMHO. Exciting to me is watching a game between the teams what will bring the most exciting play. Between these 4 teams, it could really be any match up. I could care less about how many appearances and wins they have in the past as it doesn't have a direct impact on the play currently.

i disagree. a "cinderella story" makes a big game more meaningful. 3 of these teams have won in the past 20 years. one hasn't won ever. love them or hate them, the seachickens being in the SB (especially WINNING the SB) is a great thing. now if the seahawks were going up against the bills...now THAT would be very exciting, imho.

The Patriots vs Giants SB of 2011 was the most watched TV event in history, so again, you are posting worthless opinionated crap. Super Bowl XLVII Ratings Set New Record

meaningful, yes. exciting, not necessarily. correlation does not imply causation, Sweet T.
still - difference between "what have you done for me" and "what have you done for me lately"

and I have a cinderella story for you - Patriots 2001.

that's what happens when you get an exact repeat matchup in the superbowl--when the underdog won the last round. it also helps when the 2 teams vying for it are in some of THE BIGGEST MARKETS in the USA. i wouldn't put ratings as the de-facto standard for what makes an exciting game--if that were the case, soccer would be dead as a sport.

oh, and i was rooting for the patriots in 2001, btw.

    p.s.
right back at you, all i hear is "blah, blah, blah the patriots roxxors my boxxors"
