I believe I may have been even more drunk than that on the occasion of shooting my first deer at age 14.

By way of congratulatory toasts with everyone in camp and all our neighbors, I drank a fifth of Charteuse and about twelve beers...I think the last thing I remember was one of the other guys in camp reminding my Dad that my Mom would be there early the next morning to pick me up and take me home.

I was allowed (they told me later) to sleep for about four hours before they started pouring coffee down my throat, not stopping until my Mom showed-up.

She didn't smell anything on my breath, but she wondered why we had to stop for me to piss about four times an the way home.

I didn't feel right for about a month.
